On June 29th, I met with my friend at Starbucks coffee to enjoy a cup of coffee and have a delightful conversation.
She is a junior and majoring in Biology. She told me that she enjoyed biology since elementary school and she would like to have her PhD on ecological development.
While we were talking she mentioned that Starbucks was one of the companies that serves ‘fair trade coffee’. I asked about fair trade coffee and she explained that this type of coffee is bought under fair conditions, such as paying the minimum price that international trading organization highlighted and helping coffee farming communities to have better health and education systems. She also told me that United States was the largest coffee consumer in the world.
After our conversation, I realized that while we were enjoying our coffee we were helping coffee farmers also.
